Alhambra

Alhambra High School - January 30, 2009
I find the staff at Johnny Thompson's Music to be of a very high caliber. Their repair technicians are very thorough and helpful. I even bring my own personal instrument when it needs repairs or adjustments. As a high school band director, it is great to know that I have a store like Johnny Thompson's Music that I can trust to send my kids to and know that they will be taken care of!
-Mark Trulson, Band Director

Baldwin and Repetto Elementary - February 1, 2009
My name is Lisa Jones and I have been an elementary instrumental music teacher for the Alhambra Unified School District for fourteen years. Our department has relied on Johnny Thompson Music for books, supplies, instruments and repairs for all that time, and then some. They have always worked well with us to give us the best prices and service. When problems have come up, they have moved quickly to fix them. In this day of heavy internet shopping, it's nice to have someplace where you can actually see and feel what it is that you're buying. I don't know how many times I have had to send students to them because they bought something off the internet and it needed some sort of repair to make it useable. It's worth the time and effort to make the trip to Monterey Park. Johnny's has been an invaluable resource to the musicians, young and old, of the San Gabriel Valley for many years. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to go to the store in person.

Baldwin, Granada and Ramona Elementary - February 21, 2009
The thing I like about Johnny Thompson Music is that it is a friendly and dependable music store that caters to the local musicians and teachers. It is a full service store that includes lessons, repairs, and sheet music. If you have problems with instruments before a concert, Johnny is there to help you with repairs or loaner instruments. Indeed for years, Johnny has been an active in helping with the pre-concert activities at the annual Alhambra District VAPA Festival.

Johnny is involves in the community as well. I've sat next to him at the Community Art Team meetings trying to solve the immediate and long range problems of the district. The AUSD owes Johnny a debt of gratitude and thanks for all the time and effort he has donated.

You could take my name and attach it to your letter! It says exactly what I have received over the years. Competitive prices, extraordinary service, personal attention. I have never failed to receive help when I needed it. You always worked with me when cash was short. Keep the faith. Good companies always survive bad time.
-Tony Azeltine, Choral Director

Mark Keppel High School - March 31, 2009
I don't know what I'd do without Johnny Thompson Music. The sales people, the repairmen, and Johnny himself are always eager and available to help with any problem or concern. They have researched products, searched for special needs, delivered repairs and equipment to my school, expedited orders in emergency situations, and gone above and beyond to help my music program succeed. I could write a book on the quality of service and expertise I have experienced at Johnny Thompson Music.
-Carla Bartlett, Director of Instrumental Music

Mark Keppel High School - January 26, 2009
JTM has been a source of sound technology for me since I began my teaching career at MKHS. When I started teaching at Keppel, we didn't have any body mics available for our musicals, and our stage mics were limited. When a parent offered to donate mics to us, JTM helped us choose the mics that would best fit our space and our show and helped us find those mics within in the parent's budget. In addition, JTM helped us explore and purchase the right equipment to further enhance our sound once the Governor's one time arts money was made available. When we produced A Midsummer Night's Dream at Barnes Park Amphitheatre last spring, JTM provided guidance, loaned us special equipment, and, again, helped us purchase other materials needed so our actors were heard appropriately. Someone at JTM is always available and willing to help us whenever we call for questions or understanding of a sound or musical issue. I trust JTM emphatically and know I don't have to seek other guidance in regard to the sound of our productions.
This year our auditorium is under construction and part of our updates will be a new sound system. The first people I plan to call to help me understand this system is JTM. And I know, without a doubt, someone will be there "with bells on" ready and eager to help.
I want to thank you, Johnny, and your knowledgeable staff for all you have done for our drama program at Keppel. You have always been there whenever I needed you, and that s a comfort I treasure.
-Page Phillips, Theater Director

Arcadia

Arcadia High School - January 26, 2009
Johnny Thompson Music is a customer friendly music store. No obstacle is too big for Johnny and his staff. The knowledgeable staff is always eager to help students, parents or teachers. The large inventory of instruments, supplies and products makes for quick delivery for music teachers who need supplies at the last minute. No problem is too big or too small for the staff. Johnny is a big supporter of music in the schools and can frequently be seen at school concerts.
-Tom Forbes and Rick England, Orchestra Directors

Johnny- Thanks so much for coming to our El Monte district band festival, and thanks for sending those pictures! I'll be sharing them with the kids. They were excited to know you were there. Have a great summer, and we'll see you soon!

Bancroft Middle School - January 28, 2009
As an instrumental music teacher, I have always appreciated the fact that Johnny Thompson has always offered me a "one stop" shopping store. I can always count on finding any instrument ranging from strings, woodwinds, brass, or percussion. I've also bought my essentials like sticks, rosin, reeds, grease, and books; all in one visit! I've been shopping at J.T.s for twenty five years and I hope to keep doing business with them for at least another 25.

Montebello

Montebello High - March 31, 2009
As Director of Instrumental Music at Montebello High School, I oversee a program of over 175 band and orchestra students. From beginner to advanced, my students have a wide variety of equipment and material needs, ranging from books and music to reeds, repairs, and everything in between. At every step of the way, Johnny Thompson Music has been available to meet the needs and demands of my program. The staff are always courteous and routinely go above and beyond what is expected from a business of any kind.
What I find most amazing, however, is that even if they can’t give me the answer I want, the supply or equipment that I need, they still make the situation work! From repairs that may not be possible to supplies that may not be available, JTM finds a way to make it work for my program.
In past dealings with JTM, however, there have been times when repairs weren’t up to par; when items were delayed longer than expected, or appropriate. But even in these situations, JTM makes the situation right, as best they can.
And last (but definitely not least!), JTM is well within the driving distance of a prep period, with enough time to pick up the obligatory band director’s Diet Coke!
-Shaun Kuri, Director of Instrumental Music

This is my 15th year shopping at this store. I appreciate Johnny Thompson Music because I can shop there for everything I need from instruments, reeds, strings to books, gifts, etc... I also appreciate the treatment of teachers, there's always someone to help and order whatever is needed if not in store. Thank you JTM.

I would like to express my appreciation for the service the strings instrument department did for me four years ago especially one of the people in that department, Gary Gee. I was in 5th grade that time when I came to your store to rent a violin so I could learn how to play it because I had a desire to play the violin since the age of 5. One of the people of the front desk guided me to the back of the room where all the services for string instruments are done. A man later came out and greeted me and asked me what instrument I wanted to play. When I said that I wanted to play the violin, he then help me measure the right instrument size that is suitable for me at that time. When he found the suitable violin of the size I needed, he then gave it to Gary to do some maintenance to it. While he was doing the maintenance, Gary was explaining to me how to take c are of the instrument that I will be using for that year from how to put on a shoulder rest to clean the instrument after practicing. I would personally thank Mr. Gee for teaching me how to keep my instrument in good working condition. Ever since he taught me how to take care of my instrument, my instrument was in good working condition except for the time my sound post fell out of position. Now four years later since I rented that instrument and now I that I have my own, I rarely have any major problems with my instrument besides some popped strings because I still follow the precaution steps to care for my instruments that Mr. Gee taught me that year. Thank you again for having such a wonderful string instrument department and wonderful employees. Your service had helped me be able to keep my instrument in good working condition for four years so far. Also, do not worry, I do practice my instrument at least five times a week.

Dear Johnny Thompson,
Thank you so much for lending me that really expensive clarinet for my report on Benny Goodman at Washington School. It helped me get the best grade in the class. I was the only person who did a musician and the clarinet was the best prop anyone had. I pretended to play the clarinet to the music without putting my lips to where you play it. You inspired me with the clarinet to maybe condiering playing it next year when I am iin 5th grade. Thank you again.
Your friend,
Benjamin Schwartz

I just want to let you know how much I appreciated the help and time your employee Gary Gee provided to me last Friday – more than two hours after 8:00pm closing time. It is so precious to have employees like Gary for any organization, and I am sure you are so proud to have Gary in your team. I am impressed by your people and your business. I would definitely like to bring business to a store like yours having such great employees like Gary.
